Primrose Mosaics:

Choice of Projects- Swindon, Wiltshire

Tuesday 17th November 10am-1pm (timings are approximate)

I will be teaching you all the tips and techniques you need to get started on a simple project that you can then display in your home or garden.

I have a choice of bases for both indoor and outdoor work such as.....  circles, butterflies, hearts, owls, bees, dinosaurs, drops, pendants, coasters, birds, Xmas decorations, wreaths and probably a few others!

Whichever project you choose, you will be using coloured tesserae (mosaic pieces) of your choice to create your design- There will be plenty of inspiration, so you can use one of the examples or develop your own ideas. You will receive a demonstration of how to grout your piece, as well as an instruction sheet and all the materials you will need to complete the second part of your project at home. (Note - wreaths dont need grouting)

You will learn:

  • How to cut your tesserae safely

  • About the different types of tesserae and how they react with the light

  • Which weather resistant materials are suitable for outside use

  • How to lay tesserae

  • How to glue the tesserae to the substrate

  • How to mix and apply grout and clean your piece (to complete at home)

  • How to hang your piece

Cost includes all tuition, use of tools and materials.

Please note this is NOT a glass cutting workshop so we will not be using sheet glass for this project.

I can promise a friendly and relaxed atmosphere- the perfect opportunity to chill out doing something for yourself for a change! Whether you feel creatively confident with your own ideas or need support and inspiration, I keep the groups small so that I can offer individual 1:1 help when you need it. It does come with a warning.... and that is, mosaic making can be highly addictive, with many students coming back for more sessions!
