Primrose Mosaics: Beginners/ Intermediate Glass Mosaic Worskshop
Hanging Garden Pendant & Circle Swindon, Wiltshire
If you are new to mosaics and glass cutting…no worries! This workshop is ideal for you.
In the morning, I will be teaching you all the techniques you need to get started using glass to mosaic with. Once you have practised the basics, you will create your own unique design and hand craft yourself a beautiful hanging garden pendant (25cm x 5cm), using coloured glass and other tesserae of your choice, adhered to a clear perspex base.
In the afternoon, we will progress onto developing your skills to plan and execute a more challenging project.
We will be looking at design processes and practise cutting more challenging shapes. During this session, you will receive help and advice to create your design and hand craft yourself a beautiful hanging garden circle (20cm diameter)
On day 2, you will be taught to grout your projects. Everything you make on this workshop will be weather resistant, so can be hung outside to brighten your garden all year round.
Cost includes all tuition, use of tools and materials.

Class Size: Max 6 people
Day 1 am Tutorial- You will learn:

How to cut, nip, shape and grind glass safely, using different tools for different effects

About the different types of glass and how they react with light

Which weather resistant materials are suitable for outside use

How to lay tesserae (mosaic pieces)
-
How to glue the tesserae to the substrate to avoid grout bleed
Day 1 pm Tutorial- You will learn:

To explore ways to plan and execute a more complex project: an abstract or figurative theme of your choice. (I will have plenty of ideas, examples and plans which you can use or adapt, or you can bring an idea or create your own design from scratch.)

Tips and techniques for cutting more challenging shapes.

To execute your design, with individual help and advice as needed.
Day 2 Tutorial – You will learn

How to mix and apply grout and clean your piece (alternatively, you can take the grout and instruction sheet home for a DIY approach)

How to hang your pieces.
Learn and practise the basic techniques, before moving on to a more challenging project.
Create all of this in one weekend to take home and hang in your garden.
